Current Events in the German Speaking Sphere
This course focuses on the hottest debates currently taking place in German-speaking countries. We will discuss newspaper articles, podcasts, and television programs to explore the topics that currently fascinate the public.
What are people currently thinking in German-speaking countries? What concerns them, what worries them? What tensions can be perceived between politics, the media, and the public? What new trends or even movements are emerging in light of the protracted crisis(es)? Which discourses and debates are particularly interesting? Is there a special German path currently taking?
In this course, advanced learners improve their oral and written discussion German, as well as their listening comprehension and reading strategies.
The participants of this class have taken classes at least at the Intermediate High level with LALIA or have reached a comparable level (Intermediate High) of speaking by other methods. Some of them have taken classes at the C1 or C2 levels. This course takes place online.
Structure: 3 times a week, 70 minutes each session.
